Ingredients

  • 1 can chickpeas (15.5oz) drained and rinsed
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter or almond butter
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa power
  • ¼ cup EarthChimp chocolate protein powder
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch sea salt
  • ¾ cup plant-based milk (soy is great to increase the protein!)

Instructions

  • Blend the base. In a food processor or high-speed blender, combine the drained chickpeas, peanut or almond butter, cocoa powder, protein powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and sea salt.
  • Add the milk gradually. With the processor running, slowly pour in the plant-based milk until the mixture reaches a smooth, creamy consistency. Scrape down the sides as needed.
  • Taste and adjust. Taste your hummus and add a little more maple syrup or a pinch more salt if needed.
  • Serve and enjoy. Transfer to a bowl and enjoy as a dip with fruit, spread on toast, or dollop on oatmeal or pancakes for a chocolatey protein boost!
